My Experience

One of the assignments we were tasked with was bird watching. Prior to completing the assignment, I absolutely disliked birds and ran off overtime one got near me. My experience with birds wasn't quite exciting as some others. For at the assignment, we were responsible for picking a place to look at birds and record what we saw as well as find out what kind of birds they were and placing them on a software called E Bird. Considering that my neighbor had a bird feed, I decided to watch the birds outside of my apartment building as well as throughout the complex. On the first day of my bird watching experience, I was completely terrified that a bird would place its droppings right on my shirt just as it did when I was waiting for the bus during my middle school years. Therefore this day of bird watching was not exciting nor did I see any special birds than I normally do. As my bird watching experience continued, I started to open up to the experience and i began to enjoy seeing and hearing all of the varies birds and their marvelous sounds. Despite my negative thoughts toward the activity at first, I grew to enjoy and be more open to the task once I realized the amount of information I was learning and all of the different birds I was seeing. Now overtime I'm out and see a birds, I no longer think all birds look a like because I can spot the different characteristics that they have.
