GOALS
Short Term
Prior to attending college, I had a general idea as to what I wanted my career to be, which was a pediatrician. Growing up, I've always had a passion for taking care of children. After visiting and going on mission trips to help the less fortunate, my favorite place to be was with the younger children because at this age, you can't help your life circumstance and I felt that I could be a light at the end of a dark tunnel. I would take it upon myself to make sure that I could be an inspiration and impact their lives in the smallest way that I could. After going to college and learning about different avenues that my future could take, I have decided that becoming a physicians assistant would be the right career path for me to take. By becoming a physicians assistant, I would still be in a pediatric specialty and get the same education in just a shorter time frame and without the same title as a general physician. While obtaining a Bachelors degree of Science at Winston Salem State University, I feel more than prepared to embark on my short term goals in life.
Long Term
In addition to becoming a physicians assistant, I also plan to start a foundation targeting healthcare support for children in developing countries such as Africa. With my missionary group at church, I was able to be apart of a project called, Water for Cameroon. Being apart of this outreach mission, opened my eyes to the current issues that thousands of people are experiencing world wide. From this experience, I was intrigued with the idea of starting a foundation with my obtained medical platform to help children in need. With this non profit program, I plan to provide healthcare and supplies to children struggling to receive the proper medical attention they need. Although this goal is further away than my short term goal, I am hoping that my future experience with children and healthcare will mold me into the person to fulfill this goal and encourage others to take apart in helping making the world a better place.
