Cancer is a large group of disease characterized by the uncontrolled growth and the invasion and spread of cells from the cite of origin or primary site, to other places in the body.  Cancer develops over time due to mutations and genetic changes that accumulate within the cells. This means that the traits that a cell normally has are transformed and become precancerous, which can ultimately develop into cancer.  These specific traits and characteristics of how normal cells are transformed into cancerous cells are highlighted within the hall marks of cancer.
